Railroading. 1996.

Angel recounts his experiences working for the railroads as a steam locomotive fireman based in Mason City, Iowa. At the end of the 1930s and into the 1940s five railroad companies and an interurban electric line ran trains through Mason City, fueling the author's boyhood passion for railroads. One tale of particular historical note relates how Mexicans along the tracks would climb aboard the moving trains in order to steal coal to heat their homes.
